The Calling

I believe stop motion to be a realm to breathe life into uninhibited imagination. While enjoying my residency with FAVA I created The Calling. It is a mixed-media stop motion animation piece based on a poem of the same name. I used a plethora of materials consisting of cardboard, wire, tempera paint and papier-mâché. I strived to use as much recycled and found material as possible, including a big box from the reuse centre filled with chopsticks, crayons, pieces of material and pinecones. The mysterious chaos inhabiting dreams and poetry are very important to me and in this piece I have put these forward and recreated them as stop motion visions.
